When the two arguably most influential celebrities of our time are caught up in a feud played out on social media, it’s hard not to be drawn in.
Even though the Taylor Swift vs Kimye situation is quite silly, especially when “everyone in this industry needs to get their heads out of a hole and look around to realise what’s ACTUALLY happening in the REAL world,” as Chloe Grace Moretz pointed out on Twitter earlier this week, it’s fascinating at the same time, as it looks like Taylor Swift’s innocent girl-next-door image is slowly but steadily crumbling thanks to no other than Kim Kardashian, who revealed a very calculating side of the singer.
For everyone who’s been living under a rock the past few weeks, this is what has happened so far…
Back in February, Kanye West released his song Famous, which included the line “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.” Swift then made everyone believe she neither knew nor approved of this line by throwing serious shade in her now infamous Grammy’s speech, implying West was taking credit for her achievements.

Consequently, everyone gave West a hard time, until his wife, Kim Kardashian, stepped in about a month ago, telling GQ magazine Swift was a liar and hinting she had hard evidence to back herself up.
Then Kardashian did something that might have damaged Swift’s good girl image forever; she posted her evidence: an incriminating video recording of her hubby’s phone conversation with the singer, to Snapchat. In the video, Swift not only approves of Kanye using the line, but thanks him for asking and calls it a compliment.
“Um, yeah, I mean, go with whatever line you think is better,” Swift is heard saying.
“It’s obviously very tongue-in-cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice.”
The singer then continues to tell West she will let the media know she approved of the line.
“If people ask me about it, I think it would be great for me to be like, ‘Look, he called me and told me the line before it came out. Like, joke’s on you guys, we’re fine.'”
The Snapchat video resulted in an almost immediate and incredibly scathing Instagram post by Swift, who attempted to take the moral high ground by arguing she’d never actually approved of the use of the word ‘bitch’ in West’s song.
At this point, it’s hard to believe the 26 year-old.
Even if she didn’t know about the word ‘bitch’ in the song, it makes you wonder why she would approve of Kanye saying he might have sex with her and that he made her famous, but get upset about by the use of the word ‘bitch’, a term regularly included in West’s songs.
And Kardashian hasn’t been backward about coming forward with her thoughts on the matter. In the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the reality star addresses the issue head on, saying, “I feel like I’ve had it with people blatantly treating my husband a certain way.”
Many of the fans following the unfolding drama seem to share in Kardashian’s sentiment, taking to social media to retweet Katy Perry’s famous 2014 tweet, which hinted at Swift being a ‘mean girl’.

Though it was rumoured Kardashian’s release of the recorded phone call on Snapchat could see the reality star facing similar charges to that Playboy model Dani Mathers copped after posting a body-shaming photo of a naked woman changing at her gym on social media earlier this month (a fine and possible jail time), according to TMZ, Swift was aware that other people, including the KUWTK film crew, were in the room listening in, and as such Swift’s lawyers may not have a leg to stand on, despite the threatening letter they allegedly sent to Kardashian last week.
Whether it was wrong of Kardashian to leak the recorded phone call remains arguable. Maybe she really cares about her husband’s reputation, or maybe she is just trying to become even more famous knowing how much attention this feud is getting. Either way, it has revealed a side of Taylor Swift many thought didn’t exist, and it almost makes us like Kanye (despite some of his more questionable past antics), just a little bit…
