Another day, another Kardashian controversy.
It’s hard to keep up with the Kardashians and their never-ending social media madness.
After Kim K broke the internet with her naked selfie last month, it’s now sister Khloe whose Instagram snap is getting some backlash.
While traveling around Cuba this week as part of their reality TV Show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloe posted a photo of herself standing beneath a wall inscribed with ‘Fidel’ and captioned it ‘Havana’.
While the 31 year-old looked glam posing in a tight beige dress, satin coat, and floppy hat under the dictator’s name – the photo op was offensive to many followers, given the difficult regime the Cuban people had to endure under the dictator’s 49 year-long reign.
‘The name you’re standing under is the reason why a lot of my family in Cuba is living in poverty,’ Twitter user Roxy Moure wrote, while others expressed their disappointment in the reality TV star.
‘You USED to be my favourite Kardashian. You should’ve thought about it twice before taking your pic with Fidel word the dictator/murderer in the background,’ one fan wrote on Khloe’s Facebook page.
Even politicians have commented on the picture and the Kardashians’ trip to Cuba in general, questioning the appropriateness of filming their luxe lifestyle in a country that’s poverty-stricken.
“Far from photo shoots and fruity drinks, everyday Cubans experience a different, sad reality. Now, the Kardashians are parachuting into the island to tape their vapid TV show. Haven’t the Cuban people suffered enough?” Florida representative, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen asked.
As with everything the Kardashians do, this controversial Instagram post might just be another well thought out PR stunt to market their TV show. While this one might not have been the smartest move, it got us talking about the world’s most famous reality TV family once again.
