Oh, Kanye…
Kanye West is known for his propensity to rant on Twitter, but his latest stint may have officially taken him from the sublime to the ridiculous.
Over the weekend, the rapper begged Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion via a characteristic Twitter onslaught, claiming he was $53 million in debt.
‘Mark Zuckerberg invest 1 billion dollars into Kanye West ideas after realising he is the greatest living artist and the greatest artist of all time,’ one of the tweets read.
That’s a pretty strong claim to make, huh Kanye? Evidently, Zuckerberg thought so too, as he did not respond to the star’s pleas. As such, the music icon turned to the public for help convincing the Facebook mogul to come to his aid.
‘Yes I am personally rich and I can buy furs and houses for my family, but I need access to more money in order to bring more beautiful ideas to the world.’
‘World, please tweet, FaceTime, Facebook, Instagram, whatever you gotta do to get Mark to support me…I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt… Please pray we overcome… This is my true heart…’ he continued.
Considering the fact Kanye West is worth roughly $100 million, and his powerhouse spouse Kim Kardashian is worth about $85 million, it would seem a little strange either one of them would be troubled by money woes, especially in vein of $53 million. But hey, I guess running any fashion-slash-music empire is going to be super expensive. Perhaps we’d feel a little more sorry for him if he hadn’t criticized Zuckerberg’s charity work, though.
The king of social media is part of an investment group aiming to bring education to children in Africa and Asia, but according to Kanye, that’s just not going to cut it.
‘You’d rather open up one school in Africa like you really helped the country…if you want to help… help me…’ Kanye lamented.
He then drove in the dagger, most likely deterring anyone in California from helping him, by implying that Silicon Valley is full of hypocrites who only listen to rap music because it makes them look cool.
‘All you dudes in San Fran play rap music in your homes but never help the real artists…All you guys had meetings with me and no one lifted a finger to help…’
Okay Kanye. We really are sorry for your money woes. Debt is stressful, especially if it’s $53 million worth. But somehow we don’t think enlisting help over Twitter is going to help.
